Ruth Caig, StitchKits Crafts at Alexandra Palace, Knitting and Stitching Show

Welcome to StitchKits Crafts

Hello and welcome. My name is Ruth Caig and I am the designer behind StitchKits Crafts. StitchKits began life when I put my very first cross stitch kit on Etsy back in 2011. Who could have predicted where that would lead me?

I had graduated five years earlier from Wimbledon School of Art where I studied Fine Art painting. I had the time of my life exploring colour, texture and painting technics. While living in London, pursuing my painting career I began to explore creative ways to supplement my income and so began StitchKits Crafts.

In 2016 I returned to East Sussex by the sea. Although I was sad to leave London, being back in my home town has given me the space and time, allowing StitchKits Crafts to evolve and flourish.

Thank you to everyone that continues to support my journey as we create together.

About StitchKits Cross Stitch

Because of my background as an artist and painter colour is at the heart of all my cross stitch designs. I believe it is my carefully considered colour palettes that make Stitchkits Cross kits such pleasure to stitch.

My design process uses a limited range of stitches and colour variations making my designs accessible to all skill levels. I want your precious stitching time to be relaxing, not taxing.

All StitchKits are built with love and care in my garden studio ensuring my products are designed, made and packaged with the greatest care and attention. I create my kits using the highest quality materials so that you can relax and enjoy the stitching process!  All you need is a good light, a bit of time and a comfortable place to sit.

About My Embroidery Hoops

My Love of  Hoops grew from the trend of displaying textiles in embroidery hoops.  My eye catching, hand finished hoops have been so well received at stitching shows that I have been inspired to grow the collection. This collection now includes a large range of unique coloured and patterned  hoops.

My hoops enable makers, at all skill levels to frame their creations with ease and style.  I have categorised my hoops in to collections by colour making it easier for you to select the perfect hoop for your  project or interior. My unique, wooden back, finishing system grantees a neat, professional finish every time.

My pretty patterned hoops are hand covered by myself with beautiful Tana Lawn cotton. This fabric collection was launched by Liberty’s of London in the 1920s and continues to inspiring makers down to this day.  The name ‘Liberty print’ is synonymous with small floral designs which are perfect for wrapping hoops. Tana Lawn is available in a never ending array of gorgeous colours and iconic prints. It is this diversity and quality that makes it a joy to work. These stunning fabrics inspired me to make my hoops and my hope is that my hoops in turn inspire you!

I offer a made to order hoop painting service for those of you that don’t have the time or inclination to paint your own hoops.  My hoops are painted with Artist Quality paint which ensures strong pigmentation and a consistent, lasting colour.

Most of the hoops I use as my base are made from close grain beech wood of the highest quality. They have strong metal fixtures that feature an extra-long screw that can be tightened with a screwdriver is you require (this feature is present in hoops sized 4-12inches)
