Festive Cross- Stitch Download Inspired by Betsy Star

free Christmas cross-stitch inspired by Betsy Tana Lawn fabric

I hope you love this month free cross-stitch chart. This edition is inspired by the lovely new Seasonal Liberty Print, 'Betsy Star'.
For many of us Liberty of London lovers, Betsy print is not only a classic but a firm favoirite. It seems to me that each colour way that is launched is more beautiful than the last. I wish I could have them all! With that in mind, I couldn't be more excited about the new Betsy Star edition with its fun metallic stars and vibrant, fun and festive colours, its just the tonic we need for the dark winter evenings.
I have Designed a cute little cross stitch featuring colourful florals and sparkly golden stars. You will have this stitched up in no time, frame it in one of my embroidery hoops for a quick finish, perfect for gifting and adding colour to your festive interiors.

A DMC Festive Embroidery Colour pallet

I have picked out 6 DMC colours inspired by the print and created this cute little Floral and Gold cross-stitch design.
I selected the following DMC colours:
  • E3821 - Light Effects Straw Gold
  • 725 - Topaz
  • 817 - Coral Red
  • 910 - Emerald Green
  • 518 - Wedgwood
  • 310 -Black

Tips for stitching with DMC Light effects

If like me you love the look of metallic threads but your heart sinks at the thought of stitching with them you are not alone. Here are my three tips that will not only make your life easier but will improve your results.

    • Use a thread conditioner. I use my wax thread conditioner. It make the thread  easier to handle and helps with threading your needle.
    • Remember to use much shorter lengths than you normally would. I  use around lengths of 20cm.
    • Finally after every stitch tug the thread upwards with your fingers to check the tension. I find if you don't do this the thread can slip and bunch at the back of the fabric. Yes it is a bit of a pain but its worth it I promise.

How to Frame your finished Cross-Stitch

When stitched on 14 count aida this cute little design will fit nicely in to a 4" hoop. It will make cute Christmas ornament or wall handing but its not overtly festive so it won't be out of place if you choose to display it all year around.
Framing in a hoop could not be easier. If you haven't done it before you can find a full tutorial here. If you purchase one of my decorative hoops you will also receive a printed 'How Too' sheet with your order.
I currently have Betsy Star embroidery hoops available in two colours, either with a White background or a Navy background either would work well to frame this little beauty. This Print is limited edition so grab some while you can.
Although I have stitched mine in the Betsy Star colours you can also stitch from your stash using your favour Betsy or Betsy Ann colour way.  You can find all my other betsy colours here.
    Happy StitchingXx
